Wired

Well, as usual, there are a lot of things going on here in OMSHville. Though I prefer not to have random posts (bwahahahaha), this one is gonna be an acute reminder to all of you that I am perpetually high on caffeine.

  • First, my bowl that I freakishly claimed (y’know, the one that matched my mug from Bethany Actually?) arrived a couple of days ago. I couldn’t bear to think of it being dropped by my little dishwashers’ hands, so it now holds all my iPhone and Macbook wires and chargers, along with a few other things on my desktop. I like a clean desktop, but hate to dig through my drawers for these things I use daily, so now I’m set. Ain’t it purty?
  • I guess this should have been the first bullet (should it be called a “bullet” if I’m using arrows?), but I didn’t want to strike panic in your wee little hearts. Y’know how Kenny rode a 4 Wheeler last week? Yes, well he didn’t come to injury at all THEN. However, when we went to Subway two nights ago? He busted the back of his head open when he jerked away from the tickling fingers of his sister. It was a bloody mess and a deep cut. We spent several hours in the ER and now, his head is stapled shut. There are no photos of this event. I didn’t have my iPhone or my camera as it was supposed to be a quick excursion. He’s doing fine and is quite the big man, showing off his head wound to whoever wants to see. Just goes to show you ANYTHING can hurt our kids, so relax. I’m speaking to myself here, of course.
  • Today is the last day you can send me a scanned or photographed picture of your child’s OMSH Coloring Page for the 2nd Annual OMSH Coloring Un-Contest. Winners will be announced on the 24th.
  • If you’ve ever considered joining my Swap group over at CMHS, now is a good time. We’re talking about what we want to do for the next swap.
  • Should you notice my little copyright graphic/watermark thing-a-ma-jig, please don’t think I’m getting all cocky. I realize 98.9 percent of my readers would not ever take a photo. And you should know, if I ever take a photo you can’t live without, just email me and I’ll send the original right over. Hot linking and/or saving an image found on my website and uploading it to yours? Not cool. I will no longer be uploading full resolution photos to flickr - just these sweet little 500px photos with the watermark. It’ll look the same to you - just with that annoying little “c” displayed and my gentle reminder, “Do Not Steal.”
  • I have a new “grown-up” toy. I like it a lot. It might be the reason I’m not online at night as much or it might not. Either way, if you haven’t added this bit of playfulness to your marriage, you’ll not regret considering it. Just a heads up *snicker*, keep it simple. Since you might not know your hind-end from your head when you’re floating around in that wave of bliss, having to deal with more than one to three settings could seriously cramp your style. I’m just sayin’…
  • Pick your jaw up off the floor.
  • No, I’m not going to Blogher. No, I’m not mad at Blogher. No, Blogher has never been anything but good to me. I just have a prior family engagement and a somewhat limited budget. I’ll likely return next year.
  • WordPress tutorials will re-emerge at some point in time. The date for that point in time is elusive right now, but there all the same. Think of it more like a relaxing float down your favorite river-feeling the heat of the sun on your face and inner tube on your back, rather than a tumultuous water park ride that abruptly ends, leaving you soaking wet and shortchanged. I need to take time to figure out exactly how I want to go about it this time around. I need to make it both manageable for me and helpful for you. Okay? Good.
  • I need some more 125×125 pixel banners from crafters for my sidebar. I’d like to keep them fresh and changing for you readers.
  • Finally? Um…I have no idea. I need a shower and need to heat up a lunch. I’m off.

I need to give you a banner. But, I need to make one first. I’ll get right on that :)

  2. Meg

Glad to hear Kenny’s OK. I have vivid memories of this kid in my kindergarten class, his name was Danny, suffering a head wound when some other kid whipped one of those nice solid wooden blocks at his head. Off he went for medical attention, and back he came with 4 or 5 stitches in his forehead. And he thought it was the coolest! He would pull his hair up, then thrust his forehead at us squeamish girls, make his eyes real big, and say STITCHES!!!! He was quite pleased with himself. I wonder what ever happened to him.

  3. Michelle

Erm, I have to ask. How did you get your husband into the idea of toys? Josh is afraid it means he’s not cutting it for me, or something ridiculous like that.

  4. Mrs. Wilson

    OMSH,

    1. Such a pretty bowl.
    2. It’s quite crazy the harmless things that can hurt kids the most!
    3. Check!
    4. Watermarks save lives. I mean pictures.
    5. Oh. My. Word.
    6. I’m hoping to be there in 2009 as well! Maybe I’ll see you there!!
    7. I cannot WAIT for more Wordpress Wednesdays (or whatever they’re going to be called) I almost cried when I saw the link disappear from your header!
    8. Have a wonderful day dear!

  5. Not the Mama

Oh, poor Kenny! His injury is so ironic, but I’m sure it hurts all the same. Glad to hear he’s being brave.

And I love the new little copyright.

  6. cc

Girls are just as bad at boys. I can imagine Rapunzel with stitches from the windshield wiper of the car, showing them proudly to everyone, oh wait that was ME.

I have no idea how to make a banner. Maybe I can talk SAJ into doing one when she gets back fro Kona.

And as for the last bit. Mine is in a box, with the same batteries from ‘02. Shawn thought it would help with some of my issues, it didn’t. But hey every once in a while it’s ok.

  7. Elizabeth

I’d love to get you a craft banner for my shop. However, I have nary a clue on how to do it. I’ll try and figure it out….

  8. Kate

I love that bowl! If it were in red, I’d have to leg wrestle you for it. But since it’s green, and not my fav color, I’m happy for you.

Oh. And you are SO stinkin’ honest, it cracks me up.

  9. Tyra Andrews

Hi! I would LOVE TO GET YOU MY BANNER FOR ETSY! WHERE DO I EMAIL THE INFO TO?
BY THE WAY, YOU ARE A VERY ENTERTAINING BLOGGER!!!!! YOU MAKE ME LAUGH!

  10. Jenk

Awe… It was nice knowing you. Who will take care of your kids now that you’ve found adult toys?

  11. Rachel

I totally suck when it comes to designing banners/icons/etc. But I do have an etsy shop that could really use some traffic. Woe is me… :(

  12. t.bird

Head wounds at that age ran in my family. For me it was getting knocked underneath a car in a parking lot which doubled as our playground in grade school. For my sister it was tipping her chair backwards next to the corner of a wall.

    You go Kenny! :)

And, my netvibes feed shows bullets instead of arrows, so you’re covered. :P

  13. beth

The bowl is cool and all….but I am digging the little colorful organizer thingy….way cute!

  14. Carole

Oh I am glad Kenny is okay! I am soo dreading Ryans first ER visit.

I am cracking up at you!!! Does yours have a kick start, or batteries???? HE HE!!

  15. Claire in CA

    I love that bowl.
Poor Kenny! Another war story for him, though. :-) Girls love guys with scars.
TMI on the adult toy thing. :-)

  16. Dad

Mrs. OMSH, this is your father speaking. I’m not sure what kind of “grown up” toy you and Mr. OMSH added but did you have to get one with a diesel engine? Isn’t that a bit loud?

  17. MammaLoves

Rock on girlfriend!!! Love that dropped that little nugget in a post called “wired.”

No BlogHer??!! I’ll miss you in July. I’ll need to find someone else to stalk now. *sigh*

  18. OMSH

Dad, the diesel drowns out any noises!

  19. Carole

I am sure the kick start does also:)

  20. Lanna

    Number 6 just cracked me up… :)
Kinda like how when we got a new mattress delivered? Hubby cleaned up and put away the assortment of goodies. Except he missed a bright blue condom (still in a wrapper, geesh) that was smack under the middle of the bed. And there I was 6mo pregnant. I’m sure the delivery guys got a good snicker out of that. *sigh*

I really should create my own little banner for my crafty stuff, but I’m lazy about that at this point in time. Eh.

  21. Aileen

I’m sorry to hear about Kenny’s head injury!! They always bleed so much!! Glad to hear he’s doing much better now. I freaked out when my son had a nosebleed so I can’t even imagine a deep head wound!

I’ve been trying for a long time now to put watermarks on my photos to keep potential online predators from lifting those photos. That’s part of why my flickr account is friends/family only. Still haven’t been able to do it though. I’m sure I need to buy some kind of program for that…

I’m going to suggest an apron swap next!! I think that’d be fun!! :)

  22. Meg

Did somebody attend a “Slumber Party” (euphemistically referred to in our neighborhood as a Tupperware Party)???

  23. moosh in indy.

Mine is green. No frills and it makes me happy. (in bed.) Heh.
I’ll miss you at BlogHer, maybe I’ll sport an OMSH shirt to represent.

  24. Amber (Proverbs31)

I love the bowl - I think the dots and the green are lovely. I have a bowl on my counter for our cell phones and their cords, etc, too. :)

  25. Dawn

Your Dad’s comment made me spit out my drink.

    I love the bowl.

  26. beth

I have been to a slumber party….no, that’s NOT tupperware! Loads of fun though^^

  27. jane

I really look forward to more wordpress tutorials. I am still learning a great deal. Can I still get to the old wordpress entries? I also just wanted to know how you got the copyright watermark. I’d like to get one for my own photographs. Thanks!
