My mother-in-law sent this to Jeff and Kenny, but I've already played it 3 times with a high sherry count and I can't stop laughing. Oh my, people...don't drink and hunt; that's all I gotta say.

Last night after our swim at dusk we all came up to the cabin, rinsed the salt off in the outside shower, put comfy clothes on, and cleared a spot in the living room for the family talent show. Any and every talent counted, but I will admit there were various ‘talent’ contributions that were closer to slapstick than actual ‘talent’.
Jeff, his brother Mark, and Meredith started off singing John Denver’s “Country Road” and Jeff rounded it out with Eric Clapton’s “You Look Wonderful Tonight” (which I must admit makes me swoon when he plays and sings).
Emelie and Meredith jumped in next with a few camp songs, complete with dance steps.
Kenny played a part too - he was coached by Meredith on a few jokes and hammed-it up for everyone with perfect timing.
Gus, our newest family member, played the recorder. I tried really hard to capture one of him actually playing, but that boy was swinging it to and fro so much I couldn’t catch the shot. Right after he finished playing - as everyone clapped profusely - he bowed deeply and said, “Thank YOUUUUUUUU!” He did this over and over until we could hardly breathe from laughing so hard.
Aunt Denise can touch her tongue to the tip of her nose - and I have proof. If you don’t think that is a talent, I’ll have to tell you that you are sadly mistaken.
The entire family jumped in to sing the hymn, Amazing Grace, while Gram signed the words to the song. I’ve always thought it would be so incredible to be able to sign; there are so many things I’d like to be able to do.
Of course, after a while, the guys got goofy. It was right after Emelie and Meredith showed off some of their Hand Jams.
Here they are supposedly warming up - getting ready for their own version of Hand Jams.
And a few minutes later? They were still warming up.
Finally, they displayed their Super-Sonic Hand Jam II which was done faster than the eye could see. Riiiiiiiight.
I think one of our favorite ‘talents’ was Jeff and Mark’s imitation of Credence Clearwater’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”. They sounded more like they were gargling razors than actually singing, but it was certainly good for a laugh. Needless to say they had sore throats the next morning.
Nothing a bit of fishing couldn’t cure, I’m sure.
Today we spent time at the Moody Gardens Aquarium and saw a great Sharks 3D flick in the IMAX. I’ll post photos of that tomorrow.

Bittersweet..your post makes me miss my family in Georgia SO incredibly much, but it’s only because you guys look so happy together!
So glad you didn’t get totally rained out and enjoy the rest of your time there!
What a great evening to share with your family. Our families are so far away, it makes me (kind of) miss them all. We havn’t had a family talent show before. Maybe that would be something fun to do in addition to our card playing :) We play a gave called “screwey lewey” and another that we love is “hand and foot” (not the disease, that is “foot and mouth”). We also love “mexican train”! Glad you are having a great time :)
It sounds like such a great vacation for you all, making great memories for everyone. I’m so happy for you.
Whoa. Can we back up to the newest family member? When you mentioned him earlier, I thought you were talking about a friend of one of the kids who maybe comes over a lot so you consider him part of the family. He doesn’t look like he’s the same age as any of your kids though. He does look ADORABLE. Did you adopt?
I’m happy you are all safe from the weather and having such a great time.
You guys rock! Dolly rains pounded us all day yesterday and we did nothing but stay in our pj’s and do nothing. I didn’t even brush my teeth until noon! I wanna be a part of YOUR family! But we did get a wii. Did I tell you? And the very sad truth that thing has taught me is how badly out of shape I am. No joke. The first day I played it (tennis and boxing with Jordan!) I could hardly lift my arms the next day. I was so sore. Yep, and not just a tad sore either. And not just my arms. My back and even my butt?! Think it might be a bad sign when playing a video game causes your muscles to be sore for four days!?
Hope you are having a wonderful time. It appears Jeff is. ha ha ha. I had no idea his brother was the clown he is.
What fun! I could have entered with the campfire songs, I have a book with over 350 of them. I know most.
I love the 3rd pic from the bottom. Looks like they are poppin’ and lockin’! HA!
So you’d think I was incredible because I can sign?
Man… I didn’t even have to try very hard!! ;-)
Love the photos though. My family couldn’t do that. We’d end up giggling and feeling self conscious about singing as a group. Don’t ask me how the Christmas Carols go around here…
To answer Jeana’s question, Gus is my new nephew. Jeff’s step-sister, Jeanna, and her husband adopted him. He is a precious gift.
We did a similar ’show’ at Christmas and LAUGHED ourselves sick!!
Glad you’re making lemonade out of Dolly!
Blessings!
It’s like that movie “Dan in Real Life.” Our family would never be so cool. Or so uncool. Or whatever wonderful attribute it is that brings everyone together like this.
Little Gus is SO precious!!
And I totally love the pictures, especially the ones of the men “warming up”.
I hope the reason you have not posted in a couple of days is because you are having SO much fun at the beach you just can’t be bothered. :-) Miss you!
I love the picture of Kenny. He really looks like he’s commanding the room there!
You guys are so freakin’ awesome!!!
Oh I want to be a part of your family! How awesome!
