Donkey-Kicks

Do you remember when your body would do what you wished it to do? You could throw yourself down on the ground, roll, jump, stoop, and run with hardly an effort? Remember when thrusting your body forward and backward doing donkey kicks wouldn’t throw out your back? Yeah, those were the days.

Dimples

I love watching my kids in play. I love watching their little bodies doing all the things my body forgot how to do a long time ago. The giggles, screams and smiles of my kiddos in play are priceless; one of my greatest life blessings.

Enjoy your Saturday. If you are still running and jumping and “flying” - GOOD FOR YOU. Even without that there are still the small daily blessings we forgot to notice. Silly as it may seem, I’m taking time this weekend to think on them - to write them down even. I challenge you to do the same. Come back and share with me three of your precious moments or even the smallest little thing that you love.

Here’s one of mine. My hairdresser gave me this fabulous Tea Tree Shampoo. I love to let it rest on my head in the morning - it tingles with all of its menthol goodness. It wakes me up and leaves my head feeling cool and fresh. It may seem silly, but I LOVE this part of the day - the part where I wash my hair. There are many other moments just like that. I’ll bring them back on Monday. Can you think of some of your own? Tell me now or tell me later or write it in a post - just, y’know, think on the good this weekend; your life’s blessings found in the minutia

I always celebrate the end of another school year bu doing a cartwheel in the empty school hallway. It’s my 18th year of teaching and I’m approaching forty but I did it last year and I hope I’m able to do it again this year.

    Wish me luck ;)

Okay, I got a new conditioner that I LOVE. Seriously… makes me extra happy every time I use it. :^D Smells so yummy.

I also like drinking my coffee.

And I like climbing in bed at night… (Do I have to say why?) ;^P

I do remember that feeling well. In my mind, I can still do all those acrobatics, but in reality…not so much.

I love when something comes ready in our vege garden, when we can pick a nice red tomato or pull a beetroot up… It makes me feel all satisfied and happy ;)

Two things stick out in my mind:

We have an amazing group of friends and we all consider each other the family we’ve chosen versus the family we were born to. We see at least one family from our “crew” each weekend and it never fails to revive me.

Every weekend night, I put on my pjs, climb into my freshly washed, 400TC sheets and lay my head on Rob’s shoulder. He calls it my “Best I’ve Felt All Week” time.

Last Saturday morning, I went to my first training meeting for a 5K race I want to do at the end of the summer. The fellow gave us a course in “how to run”–and even though I’m carrying around the equivalent of my 11yo daughter in excess weight, and even though I was being a bit “delicate” in my motions (nursing bras are NOT supportive enough to run in), I discovered a gratifying thing:

My muscles DO still remember what it feels like to run, and they LIKED it. I was practically giddy the rest of the day, because for a few moments, my whole body remembered the utter freedom of running ahead of all the kids in my class, even the boys. It was truly blissful. Totally Saturday-Morning-Happy.

Right now, one of my biggest happies is when our 4mo is nursing, and she pops off to give me a big grin. She has the same “cartoon eyes” as her 3yo sister, that go to half-moons when she smiles. It’s a very delighted, contented face looking up at me, and all is right with the world.

I LOVE the way my bed feels after I’ve washed all the sheets. Mmmmmmm.

Mrs. OMSH, I love the few minutes your Mom comes in and sits in my lap and cuddles. It happens just about every morning just as I’m finishing my quiet time. These are very precious moments in my day and it fills me with happiness and contentment.

I just tried to do a hand stand…

    yeah… let’s not talk about that…

Even though I often avoid chores till the last possible minute, I love the feeling of shutting a full dishwasher and turning it on, listening to it start as I wipe my hands dry on a towel and contemplate my clean, shiny sink.

Sitting down with my laptop and a cup of coffee in the morning to check my email before the day gets crazy.

Being in the middle of cooking something complicated and yummy. I know, I’m crazy, but sometimes I like the process of cooking even more than the eating!
