WORDPRESS, WEB DESIGN, AND BLAH, BLAH, BLAH…

Remembering the REASON for the season.

I’ve had a few questions lately about the maps on our wall in the living room that show up in many of my photos. One of them is our homeschool map where we label map references from our Independent Readers, Read Alouds, and History books.

Our Map Wall

Even if it wasn’t an important Geography foundation, I LOVE having the kids label the map – it gives them a fuller perspective; the world is BIG…there is much that extends way beyond the comfort of our stoop.

Above the map we label is a map that serves as a reminder to our family; a reminder to pray for the missionary and family we support, a reminder to be charitable and serve the Lord with joy, a reminder of our freedom to worship, and this time of year – a reminder to not be so self-absorbed and stingy with our financial resources. The Gospel for Asia map is for our eternal perspective.

And while they do this – even BEFORE they do this – they give the things that sustain our physical life.

Cool, sounds like a very neat outreach. I love that 100% goes to the field, so rare these days!!

Merry Christmas! :D

I have a map on my wall also, but that’s mostly just because of the whole trans-atlantic thing.

We bought a goat through ADRA to give to a family in Africa. My darling daughter thought it was just too cool to give the gift of a goat. Everytime someone asks about gifts this is the first one she mentions. Yes it is important to let our kids see how big the world really is yet how very similiar we are all in our humanity. Somewhere in Africa there is a little girl with a new goat who is learning of God because of our family and our little girl. Now THAT is the meaning of Christmas!

Our Bible school did this last year…they bought chicken and goats and the kids thought it was great. This year, they brought food for the food oantry.
