OMSH Coloring Contest Winners!
Good Christmas Morning! The gifts have been opened and we’ve feasted on the Monkey Bread Izzy brought over for breakfast. Now that my stomach is full and I’ve already had 2 cups of coffee, I’m ready to announce the OMSH Coloring Contest Winners!
I have to say that although there can only be 3 winners, I was delighted at all the submissions and I’ve uploaded all of them in their own flickr set. It is nice to see OMSH and Mr. OMSH colored as children view them.
Without further delay, the winners are…
The Ages 1-3 Winner is Drew (Age 2).
Drew will receive one set of Baby Bug Flashcards, donated by their illustrator, SAJ.
The Ages 4-5 Winner is Maya (Age 5), daughter of Simply Serena.
Maya will receive one set of Connectagons.
And finally, the Ages 6-8 Winner is Kristen (Age 8).
Kristen will receive one of our new family favorites, When Santa Turned Green.
Stories behind the stories.
A few of you sent more than just photos. I enjoyed the stories, as well as the additional photos of your children, as they dug into this activity. I’m going to share a few of those.
Madelief, age 17M, didn’t get too far on her coloring. Her dad, Eti wrote to explain why.
“I had Karel and Madelief join Ohmystinkinheck’s coloring contest. Karel liked to throw markers and loved to look through the plastic thingy the markers were in, but didn’t draw. Madelief drew a few lines and then joined the throwing party.”
Arwyn’s momma, Leta, wrote:
“She wants to give her coloring sheet to her pre-school teacher, Ms. Brandi. We also had a slight mishap with the markers which resulted in one of us wearing a clown face that had to be scrubbed off.”
Arwyn age 3, colored the front AND back of her colorsheet.
Check out little Ephraim, age 4, with his color behind his ear. A true artist. Submitted by momma, Jamie, at Mental Meanderings.
Heather of Ephiphany Alone wrote about her daughters Lauren and Lindsay.
“Lauren, age 5, enters for ages 4-5. We decided after the photo to put the Shark Tales sticker from today’s trip to the pediatrician on the back of the drawing. Otherwise, her entry uses both crayons and markers. She just couldn’t decide, so she used both.”
“Lindsay, age 19 months, enters for ages 1-3. Her style is much more minimalist than her sister who may or may not have handed her the red crayon. She demanded that she wear her romper sweater for the picture.”
Kristen wrote in about Nicholas, age 5.
“I found you on Bossy’s blogroll. As I was reading through your blog my older son spotted the coloring sheet and immediately asked me to print he out so that he could color it. He was quite excited when I told him that it was part of a contest. His name is Nicholas and he is 5 years old. He just read that and wants me to tell you that his birthday is December 26, so he won’t be 5 for very much longer.”
Colleen of A Madison Mom wrote about Zoe, age 2.
“Zoe had a great time coloring the picture. She’s very serious about her coloring. She actually colored it 3 different times… and I’ve printed out a few more just in case. It seems she likes your little OMSH!”
And that’s a wrap!
There were a few that were sent in photos without an age. I had no idea what age group to put your child in if the age of your child wasn’t included. If you did include a photo of your child, it was easy enough to guess.
If you sent in your blog’s URL, I included it with the photo. Otherwise, it is just your child’s first name. I would be glad to add the URL of a blog if you forgot.
Thanks to everyone for doing this. We’ll have to do it again! THIS WAS FUN!
Merry Christmas!
BE WELL!

Did Maya get help? I’m just asking because I didn’t learn to color in the lines until I was in my teens.
OMSH
I have no idea if she got help, but I was so anal retentive even at age 5 with my coloring. Maybe Maya is a future web designer or programmer! HA!
I wanted to make sure everyone knows this was a drawing. I had a few that thought there would be judging, but nope – a drawing. :)

Nick says that it is okay that he didn’t win because “I get my last birthday present tomorrow.” He does thank you for “…putting me on the computer.”
Merry Christmas!
