If you didn’t see my previous post inviting you and your children to participate in the Kid Art Auction - Earth Day 2008, please take the opportunity now to peruse through some of the kiddos contributions to the Kid Art Auction gallery over at the flickr pool!
Today is the last day you can bid on one of these crafty creations! All monies, as mentioned before, are going to be donated to We Can Solve It. For more information on this public auction of our kids’ artwork read greeblemonkey’s post.
I got behind on posting my kids’ art, but just got them up today. Take a look and of course, feel free to bid.

Thinking you want to do more this Earth Day than bid on artwork? Well, I understand. Being “green” has become such a buzz word, but we’ve found that it doesn’t take much additional effort.
There are things you can do everyday to “green-up” your lifestyle–IF you want to do them.
We recycle. It’s pretty easy. Four large bins in our garage collect cans, plastic bottles, glass, and newspaper. We also put magazines and other used paper there. Our city doesn’t have recycling pick-up, so we load up the back of Helga, my ‘burb, and drive her over to the recycling area to distribute our recyclables among their marked crates.
Kenny separates our recycling in the kitchen and takes it to the garage, so it gives him a chore - and helps him learn to care for the earth at the same time.
There is a nice little online site that will send you daily green-living tips right into your email’s inbox. Ideal Bite is free of charge and offers what they call “bite-sized ideas for light green living.” I’ve been getting them for about a year now and they are as entertaining as they are whippet smart.
And because I absolutely can’t stop glowing, I have to ask. Seen my bike? Thinking I can cut down on some gas this summer and find places the kids and I can ride, instead of drive, to. Well, that depends on Kenny’s skill and whether or not we can finally get rid of the training wheels.

I have two with training wheels still. I’m hoping to get the 9 year old off for sure, and the 5 year old will probably be no problem.
Those are actually quite brilliant!
we recycle milk jugs, wax boxes and tetra packs, all paper except face tissue (which can be composted) including derders from paper towels and toilet paper), tin cans, pop bottles and cans. we can’t do glass because there’s nowhere here to take it right now. however, we don’t use a whole lot of stuff that comes in bottles, so it’s not too bad.
we are working hard at reducing our carbon footprint. i wish we could find led light bulbs. they don’t have them available here and they cost a mint on the net.
OK, I bid (how? how much?) and I win because I want those pictures framed and hanging in my office. OK? All other bids are off.
