Kid Art Auction for Earth Day 2008Here in OMSHville we love it when kids get busy pouring out their creative juices. We also love it when OTHER kids do the same. And now, with Earth Day on the horizon, there is a fabulous AUCTION specifically FOR KIDS’ ART! A real live auction where my kids and your kids can auction off their art to the highest bidder and those monies will go as donations to We Can Solve It

It is also a great time to sit down and draw, color, paint, clip, cut, paste, and whatever else, with your kids and talk to them about ways your family can make efforts to protect the earth. I KNOW many of you already recycle, restrict consumption, reduce plastics, etc…but it never hurts to have a conversation every year to keep the efforts fresh in your child’s mind.**

AND? If you can do this WHILE doing something fun…all the better.

Now, this just started, so there isn’t a lot of artwork yet submitted to the flickr pool, but take a look at what is there. When I get done with this post I will be joining my kids to do our own artwork - we may even do a bit of a hodge podge, hmmmm… (mine doesn’t count, of course, since admissions are accepted for 17 and under).

Grab all the details for the Artists, the Bidders and the Winning Bidders over at Greeblemonkey’s.

Okay, that’s a wrap. Get crackin’!

I came in a little closer for a shot.

Update from last night

Here’s my first creation; the kids are still working on theirs. They want to have a plan for what they’re going to do and I just started cutting and pasting.

Earth Day 2008 Hodge Podge

Pigs and Flamingos want us to protect the earth.

That is an eco-friendly crown, by the way.

Not a believer in global initiatives? Can you at least agree clean air is good and dirty air is bad and let your kiddos color?

Yay! Thank you muchos! I am hoping to see lots of art pour in this weekend after some kiddos get busy!

    Oops - some typos:

Yes, clean air is good and dirty air is bad. But, what action are the individuals trying to get the government to take, exactly? I don’t want my freedoms even more reduced because the government decides it’s a great idea to force everyone to ride share, or limit travel, or implement any other number of laws. I will choose to take steps to take care of my environment, if others choose to abuse the environment, I’m not going to vote to pass laws to force them into making what I deem as correct choices.
