Drizzle

It is a good day for the rain.
All the painting is done.
Meetings tonight at school–lawn couldn’t be mowed anyway.
Free water for the plants to drink.
Slow and steady day.

Yep, a good day for a rain.

On my lunch break I made a decision. I fell in love with some of these yesterday at Etsy.

Resin Deer Heads - coming soon to OMSHVILLE.

I know, you’re saying, “What?!” and “Why?!” or just maybe you have excellent taste like me and are oohing and ahhing. Either way, I’ve got my own taste and this needs to be on my black wall. Seriously. I know the difference between needs and wants and this called to me in my sleep.

That’s a lie.
I confess, okay?

Moving on.

So, I spent an hour eating my breakfast cereal and Googling “resin deer heads” and all sorts of other keyword phrases and found a company that sells them. Yes, I’m excited. Yes, I’m making one for myself. NOT because I’m not in love with this one I found at Ruby’s Lounge at Etsy, but because there is no way I can justify the expense right now.

I’ve never worked with modge podge or fabric collage or deer heads before, so this should all be very, VERY interesting.

Coming soon - funky modge podge deer-head project in OMSHville.

Ooooh that looks SO fun. I LOVE modge-podge and collaging and just being crafty. SO cool. :) You better let us know how it turns out! So FUN! I think it will look PERFECT against that black backdrop. I’m jealous. Maybe I might have to look into something like this after I get through with a little thing called college graduation. :p

    Good luck!

I wish I were sitting at your dining room table with you, having coffee and contemplating the new blackboard wall and the rain and where exactly to hang one of those deer heads.

Also, you’re weird. But I like you that way.

Oh my! I can give you the real thing to work around - when my parents broke up housekeeping, I hung several sets of antlers in my garage! (We lived in Montana and Iowa and Alaska) And wondered what I would do with them!
I’ll post pictures on my blog as soon as I can.
I’m a lurker - came here some time back from Pioneer Woman, I think?

I’m loving the deer heads…..the dh (Mr. Hunter that he is) isn’t so into it.

  5. Amanda

OMG I LOVE THAT. I don’t know why, but it totally appeals to me too!

Crazy thing, though, is that I could never try to hang one in my house. It would give the hubs the idea that it’s actually okay to hang deer heads and I’m not gonna go there any time soon.

Okay, It is in my favorites, and when I make my first million (thousand)….it will be my gift:)
    XOXOXO

Oooh.. maybe I could mod-podge the antlers hanging in my front room? My husband… um… *liberated* them from a dead semi-great-great-auntie of mine’s shed about ten years ago, and they’ve been somewhere in our home ever since. Just now, they’re displaying two court swords (basket hilt and some other type), a Littman stethescope, and two Scottish Glengarry hats, but we’ve also used them as a drying rack for wool socks in the winter.

Antlers, decooupaged or not, can be very useful.

You know I can’t wait. That thing is awesome! I am getting ready for a modge podge project myself. Saw it on Design*Sponge. I’ll show you mine if you show me yours! :)

Have paper mache deer in paper bag color.

  10. Mr. OMSH

    Two comments on this one.

First, this is the exact thing I thought I would experience if I ever did acid (the illegal drug)…You know, driving down the road, a psychedelic buck runs out in front of you…AND. YOU. SCREAM.

Second, since you’re making one and need a mold for it, can I stuff a real buck that I kill this year? Please, please, please? We can hang them both on your black wall…They can collect dust together.

C’mon ladies, convince OMSH that I…er..the family, need to have a stuffed buck head hanging on the wall!

It’s not my thing. I’ll admit it.

    Good luck though!!
