Emelie baked and iced these cupcakes for our local American Legion for a 4th of July event…some lucky person on a cake walk will end up with a dozen of them.
She had to ice them at Izzy’s however, because as you might have noticed yesterday, I went missing in action.
Two weeks ago on Monday, I had a gall bladder attack. I didn’t know what was happening; I thought perhaps I was dying. The ER misdiagnosed me with a UTI and constipation and sent me home. I was asymptomatic for both, but I had no other ideas of what could be causing my pain so I went with it. The following week and 1/2 (last week and early this week) involved upper abdominal pains that just kept getting worse and worse. Finally Monday I saw my doctor who said he’d bet his mortgage it was gall stones. I had a sonogram; my gall bladder, on the sonogram, looked like a bag of black and white peanut M&Ms.
Yesterday I had a consult with a surgeon and after that headed straight to the hospital to have my gall bladder removed.
And?
I hurt. A lot.
So, this post is over and I’d really covet all y’all’s prayers for healing.

oh my goodness! what a sudden thing to have happen! wishing you a speedy recovery!
Sorry to hear about your surgery. Take it easy and do exactly as the doctor says. Thank goodness surgery has improved, I had it long ago when it was major surgery.
Whoever wins those cupcakes is SO Lucky.
Oh, sweetie! You know I am praying!!

I felt I had to comment this day though. Hope you feel better soon. I know what you are going through, more than most. I spent Memorial Day weekend recovering from my gall bladder removal. OH it hurt. The itching of the holes is the worst. I ended out being allergic to the glue used. About a week after surgery my skin was so itchy I wanted to tear it off.
Good Luck and feel better SOON. The cupcakes look beautiful.
Straight to the top of my list mama…hope you feel better very soon.
Oh. I will certainly be praying for you.
My daughter had hers removed last July. She was 14 at the time.
Your daughter did a lovely job.
Consider yourself prayed up.
And those are some fine cupcakes!
Oh Heather…
My prayers for a speedy healing are with you.
Bless your heart!
That’s what we Baptists in the South say!

When I had my gall bladder attacks they were definitely more painful than natural labor. I, too, thought I was dying laying on my bathroom floor with my 4 month old sleeping in the next room.
I hope you heal quickly. For me, at least, it was just a few days and I felt normal again.
Absolutely, praying. My husband went through that last summer–he says it was the best diet ever–too bad it doesn’t last. :)
Oh No! I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you! I hope you have a fast and easy recovery.
Bless your heart.
Those cupcakes are darling.
I hope you recover quickly!!!
I’m glad your doctor figured it out for you, since the ER docs missed the ball.
Praying for you!
*HUGS!*
I’m hoping your recovery is speedy. I’m sorry you had to go through that!
Sending all my prayers and healing thoughts your way!
Praying for you here in the City of Angels. For good healing and patience. Think of the fireworks you see this weekend as prayers from your readers…
Ouch! Feel better soon. And, those cupcakes look awesome!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I’m so glad your doctor figured out what was going on.
We’re both in the process of healing! I just had a cyst removed from my back a week ago.
My gallbladder problems started when I was pregnant 11 years ago. 5 weeks after a c-section due a breach baby, i was back in the OR to have my gallbladder removed. I’d had a natural childbirth w/ my first and i’d rather do that 100 times then have gallbladder attacks. I’d lay there and pray to die. Seriously. They were horrible. And being pregnant didnt help either LOL!
Heres praying for speedy recovery.
Tiffintexas
BTDT…The pain will be worth how good you’ll feel in a few days. (Kinda like childbirth lol).
Hugs and feel better soon!
Thinking of you. *Hug*
Please tell me you had the arthroscopic surgery, and not the more invasive one. I had my gall bladder out a few years ago (the arthro way), and my friend had the more invasive one. I was up and around right away, and she was in bad shape for weeks. If you’re posting from home, I’m thinkin’ arthro…
Anyway, praying for a speedy recovery. Rest, rest, rest.
Oh, you can bet I will! If it makes you feel any better, I can tell you that, as abdominal surgeries go (and I’ve had a full assortment of those), this one’s a cakewalk (arrrrrrgh). Hope you snap back soon!
You got ‘em Heather. Lots of prayers for quick healing and an easy recovery. I’m glad your doctor was able to figure your pain out and deal with it so quickly.
The cupcakes are beautiful! Way to go Emelie!
Prayers for you and a quick recovery.
OMSH! We’re keeping you in our thoughts for quick healing! Glad you got it sorted out. I’ll bet this incident kind of explains why they call it a “practice” huh ;)
Oh my goodness! You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Super fast healing vibes coming your way. Rest up and take care.
Emelie’s cupcakes look awesome! Lars wants to know how you make them look hairy like a Koosh?
I am SO sorry to hear you had to live for a week and a half with gallstone pain! I haven’t experienced it myself but am close to several who have and know it’s awful. I’m glad you’re on the recovery side - healing from the surgery might be ouchy but at least you’ll never need to deal with the stones again? Praying for a swift recovery for you!
those look amazing.
i had my gb out in november. those attacks are scary and horrifically painful. recovering from surgery is pretty painful the 1st week, but after that, it gets better and better.
Take heart Heather. My husband had his gall bladder removed in April after 25 years of mis-diagnosis. He didn’t have stones, it simply didn’t work and was virtually dead. He is better now than he has been in 25 years. He can pretty much eat anything. The recovery was fast. Hope they took yours out laproscopically.
Praying here as well–can’t tell you how many of my friends have gone in for odd symptoms and the docs do the ol’ “crazy woman” diagnosis, only to then later find out that it’s gallstones–don’t know why they don’t just start there! So glad your doc got on it quickly! Blessings!
Oh, my. Ouch. I am so sorry. I hope now that everything is improving minute by minute. Prayers for you.
Oh what a yucky time. I’m praying for you.
You have my prayers….
Oh no. Feel better SOON and you have my prayers.
P.S. Your daughter is way talented with those cupcakes!
Oh babycakes! How awful! I hope you feel better very soon!
I hope you feel better very soon!!!!
I’ve prayed for a speedy recovery for you! I had my gall bladder removed 12 years ago this month and haven’t had a stomach ache since. (Has anyone warned you about the gas pains you might get in your shoulders? Seriously. I wish someone had at least warned me, even though they are short-lived pains.:-/)
lordy loo- I miss a day and I miss a lot- lots of prayers from Ohio! My best friend just had this surgery last week- random! I hope yr all better soon love. xoxoxoxox
This might be good for a laugh, but have you heard of the four F’s that help diagnose gallstones? Female, Fair (skinned), Forty and Fat. Losing weight, it turns out, is the number one cause of gallstones. My gallbladder didn’t even make it to 30 with all my yo-yo dieting.
Hope you feel better soon. The pain goes away real fast!
Amanda - My doc and the surgeon said it was: forty, fat, fertile and female. He didn’t mention fair-skinned - how would that be related?
Oh my. First: So sorry about the gallbladder. Been there done that and it does hurt. Feel better soon! Second: the cupcakes! Are you kidding me! They look so so amazing. Emelie is so stinkin talented!!
The cupcakes are fantastic.
The gallbladder surgery bites. Did you have that horrendous back/shoulder pain??????? That was the worst for me. Not to mention the 4 days I had to spend in the hospital on anti-biotics before they would do the surgery….
