I’m 36 years young today.
THIRTY-SIX

It isn’t THAT big a deal; I mean, I didn’t turn into a middle-age hag at the stroke of midnight AND I didn’t count any new wrinkles on my face when I woke up. So? I took the kids to the pool to ensure I’ll have a few new wrinkles for next year.
Why fight time when you can easily just give it what it wants?
One great thing about birthdays are surprises - even if they aren’t of the birthday sort. I’ve received a number of “Happy Birthday” emails, thank you for those of you who remembered me this way. I also was serenaded by Jeff’s Nana (after she mistook Emelie for me and sang to her first). I had a sweet card from my sweet love on my computer when I crawled out of bed and sat at my desk. And Emelie has spent the afternoon baking and icing a cake and cupcakes. Meredith and Kenny are about to drive me through the roof, but why turn this negative when I can just send them to their room a bit, right?
Speaking of surprises, today’s mail brought along a sweet one from the June Summer Swap. Just look what Angela of SparklieSunShine sent my way…
If you’ve read me for any period of time you know I’m sort of “chewy” - which is quite a bit less than crunchy.
While I do want to tread lightly on the earth just like a lot of the tree-hugging granola gals out there, I haven’t full-out embraced the tree and mugged-down with it. The tree and I are friends. I let it grow and do what I can to conserve its life and the life of his friends, he forgives me for driving an inefficient gas guzzlin’ Suburban.
I love give and take relationships.
Seeing all the reusable bags popping up all over encouraging us to stop walking out of stores with plastic bags and start carrying our own makes me smile.
Method™ and Danny Seo encourages us to go through Plastic Bag Rehab and I think the idea is a good one. What is Plastic Bag Rehab? Bottom line, it is deciding to NOT be mindless about your plastic bag consumption. I had my own ideas of what to do with the plastic bags I already had if ya wanna read an older post, Ikea Goes Bagless.
So, that was one part of my swap. The next part was the Method:Home aroma sticks in lavender lemongrass. Oh these are so aromatic (der) and light and made from renewable, natural soy.
They are sitting on my bathtub right now - next to a rock Emelie gave me some time ago and a box set of cards that came in the package too. The cards are made from recycled materials with a little photo frame set on the front. I like the idea of slipping in a favorite photo as part of the correspondence. Thank you Angela, it is all LOVELY!
And because I can’t just receive, but need to give as well, I really enjoyed finding and shipping a gift off to little brother Ryder. His brothers had their own “To Go” travel cases and Ryder needed one. His momma said so. I found the perfect one and sent it his way.
I’m told it arrived and look forward to hearing of it being filled with…
…hidden picture books, word searches, drawing paper and colored pencils, favorite stories, army men, marbles, and goodness only knows what else.
If I didn’t love you so much already, I’d be so SO mad at you right now for not giving me fair warning that your big day was on the horizon.
Guess I’ll have to spoil you senseless on another day ;-)
Watch your back (and your mailbox) is all I got to say…
Happy Birthday, OMSH! 36 was a great year for me - I met and fell in love with my new hub, rediscovered the joys of daily champagne, and started buying flats! I hope it is as glorious, fabulous, and blessing-filled as you could ever want!
Happy Birthday!
I’ll be 39 at the end of the year and can say with certainty that it just keeps getting better. Hope your day was fabulous! :)
Happy Birthday! I’d sing but you’d have to cover your ears. 36 will be a good year - you’ve already got a great new path and an interesting tomato experiment to kick off your year…I can’t wait to see what you’ll get up to next!
[...] I swapped with OMSH this time (I actually swapped with two people) and she just got her items and posted about it. So feel free to go over and check that out. It’s also her birthday. Happy birthday [...]

Happy Birthday!! Sorry I didn’t know sooner that this was the big day. The love of my life has a birthday Thursday and I have lots of surprises planned for him. I’ll be having my 38th bday in August…..again. My youngest was born on my 38th birthday so I stopped having birthdays of my own which makes it great that I never get any older. :)

Happiest Birthday Heather! I hope this next year brings you all the things to dream of! Mine birthday is creeping up too. Only I’ll be one up on ya. :)
Uh, “mine birthday”? Forgive me, I’m a little tired. That would be “MY birthday” - which apparently is an indication of my deteriorating brain matter.
Happy Birthday!
that’s not just any rock :) that’s a geode, a natural formed crystal formation surrounded by plain rock. some of them can be quite beautiful. i love them because despite their plain wrappers, great treasure lurks inside.
and happy hatch day :)
A very Happy Birthday to you!
Awww! Happy Birthday. You share your birthday with my son. He turned 20. The sixteenth was also my grandparents anniversary (would have been number 76), my daughter and her husband’s first anniversary, my cousin’s 19th wedding anniversary. The 16th was a good day for us too. Hope you had a happy b-day!
