Day 1 – Six Days to Christmas
Do you have all your gifts wrapped? All your bows tied? A thief-enticing gathering of presents at the base of your Christmas tree? Well BAH-HUMBUG…because I don’t; in fact, I’m convinced anyone who does has no life or an unhealthy relationship with scotch tape. In which case? I forgive your transgression of preparedness…can we can be friends? Good. Come over and let me feed your addiction. Please?
In case you are curious, the only reason I have a single gift wrapped (and that is exactly what I have wrapped…ONE GIFT) is because Bethany invited me to participate in 7 Days and I needed a photo for Day 1.
Which brings me to my morning ephiphany…I’m awesome with externally imposed deadlines and accountability, but the self-imposed stuff? Not so great. Maybe next year I need to start a “Wrap It Up” Flickr group where all participants have to take a daily photo of a gift they wrapped for Christmas. And let’s say I start this group to begin the first week of September! That would encourage all my gifts to be purchased, and even wrapped, BEFORE THANKSGIVING. While some might think it heretical to not have a midnight wrapping spree on Christmas Eve, I’m convinced it would make the season more “jolly” and less doused with Scrooge-like grumbling and caffeine jitters.

10 have spoken up.

Hee hee, I rather like that idea. It would have saved me skidding about on the ice this afternoon trying to do my last Christmas shopping!
Welcome to the group :-)

If you start that group, I will totally join it. I have the same problem with last-minute wrapping! Except for me, I usually end up doing all my wrapping a bit earlier because we ship most of our gifts to friends and family out-of-state! This year my wrapping/shipping frenzy was on December 10th.

And I thought that I was the only bum still staring at a list with more empty boxes than checks! Most of the gifts under our tree were brought over by my Mama. She’s always been awesome at Christmas. I think the bar’s been set too high. If you start that group I might give it a try. But I think I could only do one gift per week. Not once a day!

Matthew forbid me (In a loving, caring way) from participating in 7 Days this time around. He wants me t have some “down time.”
He knows me better than I know myself sometimes.
As for the group? I’d join. I’m usually done by the end of November but this year, not so much.

i could totally get on that wrap it up bandwagon! but i do have a bit of a leg up on you this year….only because mama is in town to light a fire under my behind!
i also decided to do the 7 days winter 2009…it’s my first time.

Try this next year… a friend from church started this group to keep the focus on Jesus and be ready for Christmas early. She starts around September!

You have one wrapped, so you’re ahead of me.
It never fails; Every year, I need to wrap something last minute, rush out the door to a family function, only to give said gift to someone to unwrap. Sometimes it seems the gift is only wrapped for an hour.
Such is the life of a bachelor ;)

With a curious 2yr old and an adventurous 9 month old wandering through my house there is absolutely no way I can wrap presents or put them under the tree for that matter. Christmas Eve will be spent wrapping presents and putting toys together. No sleep for the weary!

You’re doing much better than me. It is two days later. Now 4 day til Christmas and I just wrapped my first gift. This is uaually us…..”have a midnight wrapping spree on Christmas Eve.” We wait till the kids go to bed, turn on “Its a Wonderful Life” and wrap….and wrap…and wrap. it was my goal this year to do it beforehand. i have a start. One present down, 4 days till Christmas!

not a gift wrapped. and it will remain that way until kids are in bed Christmas Eve. the wrapped gifts are too tempting for the little-r ones and we tell the kids that Santa asks us to wrap his gifts so he can save time. They pretty much dont know who gave them what in the morning, but so far no one has questioned it.
Comment if ya wanna.
