    Cleaning Day

Why is it that I have a burning desire to deep clean my house right before I leave town? As if I can’t leave the dust bunnies until I return? As if the hair on the bathroom floor will multiply when I’m gone? And the pink mold in the shower? We won’t talk about that - especially now that it’s gone along with the build-up of soap scum on the shower door (Arm & Hammer Scrubbing Bubbles with Oxy rocks!).

Anyway, while my bathroom tingled with that fabulous bling of fresh clean I looked at my cleaning supplies bucket and smiled. What is it about cleaning supplies that makes me think I can take on the world? Give me some Soft Scrub and I can make everything right. Hand me some Endust (Lemon Scent) and I can figure the nation’s budget. Spray a bit of Method’s grapefruit all purpose cleaner across my counters and I’ll find a cure for cancer.

    Or?
    Maybe not.
Maybe it’s the fumes after all.

LOL! I love to clean BEFORE I go on a trip also. There’s something about coming home to a clean house…

How is it that cleaning supplies give us warm fuzzies? I love Method’s Little Bowl Blue for toilets (love them clean, hate to clean them.) Now, back to my cleaning! Good luck on yours!

      you aren’t the only one.
i drive my clowns crazy with the need to not only pack everything in an uber organized way but also to have the home pristine, shiny and new before we do take the circus out on the road. they whine and complain but do they thank me when we return and all we have to worry about is the unpacking and who gets to use the washer and shower first? NO!

Everytime I clean with PineSol, and a window or two is open for cross ventilation, I swear it smells like second hand Mary Jane. When I first noticed these smells, I thought it was my neighbors and was rather miffed over it. Then, when we moved, I found out it was the PineSol. I don’t know why or how, but I really think it has to do with the high humidity here in Quebec.

even your cleaning supply pics are bright and fun!

Maybe you could send some cleaning supplies to some of our leaders in our nation’s capital.

I think the only time our house was clean when I was growing up was just before a trip.

      It’s the fumes.

      Okay, not really.

The reason I love to clean before a trip is that I generally take all the mess-makers With Me on the trip. So, the cleaned house STAYS clean. And that’s amazing to me, to come home, and everything is Still Clean.

The Rational Part of me says, “You dope, of course it is still clean–no one was HERE! You took the mess With You!” I can generally make her shut up if I feed her chocolate, though, so we don’t worry much about the Rationl Part.

I dont think it is the fumes at all. Men can’t clean or don’t clean the same way women do. Otherwise, they’d have cleaned up the messes you mentioned long ago! :)

I clean like a mad-woman before we leave for a trip. I absolutely HATE coming home from vacation and walking into a messy house. It helps ease the pain of returning to the reality of everyday life. I can enjoy my vacation for just a few more moments without feeling guilty.

hah, I’m SO with you on that one! must scrub, clean, etc with a frenzy that my hubby has learned to tolerate. I have to say, coming home to a spotless house is incredibly nice.

Let’s have us a happy hour okay? You bring the Lysol, and I’ll bring the NyQuil :-)

If you were REALLY brave you would have taken that picture with the cleaning supplies in the UNCLEAN sink!!

    15. Erin

I am the same way. I LOVE coming home to a nice, clean house. My favorite? Clean sheets on the bed. It feels so nice to slide in between those crisp, clean sheets when you’ve missed your bed for a couple of days. I always rush around cleaning before leaving town. And my husband mocks me.

    16. 9milemom

Way too funny. I am so neurotic about cleaning my house before we leave on a trip. Like I want it to look nice if someone breaks into it while I’m gone or something?

I like to vacuum my way out the door. That way I know I can come home and relax. Sadly, it rarely happens.
