What do you think about Florida considering a Christian license plate?

blech. i think of the words to a song by one of my favorite artists, derek webb: http://derekwebb.musiccitynetworks.com/index.htm?id=7013&inc=7&album_id=733#6081
Interestingly, I didn’t really care much until I read the last line of the article - “Bullard, the plate’s sponsor, isn’t sure all groups should be able to express their preference. If atheists came up with an “I Don’t Believe” plate, for example, he would probably oppose it.”
Not that I’d put an atheist plate on my car (my Darwin fish suffices, wink wink), but I think his standpoint is hypocritical. Denied!
If the Christians can have their plate, then atheists should too. I have my personal religion on my plate….the University of Oregon Ducks!
I’ve never cared for bumpersticker theology. God is too big to be on a license plate.
Certainly if Christianity gets one than any religion gets one including atheism.
It’s interesting, but I think that then any religion should be entitled to their own specific plate (even atheists) and I don’t know that people could handle that.
At least then the Hybrid drivers wouldn’t be the only ones holier than thou!
I have a “respect life” plate. I don’t care if there are a million choices of plates, people can make their own decision, just like I did.
What difference does it make if it’s a license plate or a bumper sticker? It all comes back to freedom of speech, freedom of choice, etc. The ACLU needs to keep it’s nose out of it. In my opinion the ACLU is one of the biggest problems with this country right now anyway. I’m so offended by some of the bumper stickers I’ve seen lately, but I will still defend your right to have them on your car. I have a “fish” on my car, the first thing I put on it after I bought the car and took it home. If you don’t like it, so what? I say if people want to put God on thier plates or their bumpers or right in the middle of their foreheads, go right ahead. More power to them.
