Safetytat - because we’ve all looked away and known that stomach lurching feel - if just for a second! Thanks for the heads up cc!

hmmm. interesting.
I wonder what the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (1 800-THE LOST) say about this? They REALLY frown on things like: code words, and telling your kids ’stranger danger’. The best advice I got from a seminar they gave was to keep my under 5yrolds very close, and above 5yrolds can memorize numbers, so work with them. Predators soak up as much info as they can including cell phone numbers, names, addresses. I’m a little oogly about tattooing my kid with a number!
I have a little boy with autism who’s nonverbal, but I’m hearing impaired and cannot use a cell phone. I wish there was something out there for mothers like me… all I can do is keep a firm grip/eagle eyes at all times on him (and the other two) and always, always be on alert.
Would it be wrong of me to just write whatever relevant info of the day on my kid with a sharpie??
I like the sharpie idea, it’s cheaper ;)
I have a child who is mildly autistic and is prone to wandering. I bought one of those cute backback/harness/leash thingies that you put on toddlers (actually I bought 3 since I have two others under 5) and she is happy to wear it and let mommy/daddy/granny/papaw/insertresponsiblerelativehere hang onto her “tail”
I’ve even been known to tie the tail to the stroller while I push thereby giving me more hands to wrangle mulitple children.
I liked reading their tip section.

(Which discourages using sharpies on skin, but hey what about non-toxic crayola markers? :P )
I also like the suggestion to tell our children seek out a MOMMY if they get lost, because they are most likely to stop and help the child. What are the odds that another mom with her three children in tow is a child predator? Hm?
OH, and if you take a trip to an amusement park or something similar, what about giving your child a necklace to wear, like military dogtags, with their first name and your phone number? Thoughts?
good&crazy, The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children frowns on those things, really? Hm. I guess I can see why, if I think about it.
As a mom of a 21 year old (with tatoos) and an eight year old (without ha ha)I really don’t dig on these.
For me it has to do with the tatoo thing. I don’t like them. I never have. In my opinion it’s like graffiti.. that never ever goes away.
I like the sharpie idea, I was actually thinking of adding that before I read the other comments. Of course the safety tat people would be against sharpie.. it takes away the profit margin!
I’ve had the heart dropping moment of WHERE IS MY CHILD..I’ve had the 230 am phone call.. he’s been in an accident. The worst of all.. the ambulance ride to the hospital because he attempted suicide. For all the ways we try to protect our child from the big bad boogie man, we are still helpless when the demon we know is worse than the demon we don’t.
one last thing..
preying on the fear of parents to make a buck.. kinda irritates me. a lot.
