Caduceus - 5 days old.

Remember what I got for my birthday last year? Well this year I’m not getting another one…yet, BUT Mr. OMSH did.

He’s been trying to figure out what he’d want in a way of a tat for some time now. I mean, he’s not the type to go for a naked pin-up, nor does he want the opposite spectrum with skulls and gore. This was perfect though…the Caduceus represents his occupation in the medical field (psychologist/therapist) in both in his military and civilian career.

And plus, it just looks cool.

My brother has that same tat. V. V. cool.

  2. citystreams

Looks painful. I would kneed some anesthesia.

  3. Bri

    Excellent choice!! Good for him!

  4. JackieW.

Our oldest son has 2 tats. His father hates them both.

I figure there could be worse things.

If dh goes first I might do a teeny tiny one.

  5. Mrs. Wilson

Woo! I LOVE tattoos!!! That one looks GREAT!!

  6. Mrs. Wilson

ps. is that WAX on it? Is that supposed to stop the bleeding? Help it heal faster?

  7. Angella

    Cool!

I am not sure if I am brave enough for a tattoo, but I pierced my nose yesterday.

  8. Kate @ Life As I Live It

That’s awesome! I’d love a tattoo but can’t decide what I’d get. I’ve only been thinking about it for…oh, 20 years.

  9. OMSH

Mrs. Wilson Oh heavens no! That thing has to breathe to heal. If you have a good tattoo, you shouldn’t bleed much, if at all. My tattoo had just a smidgeon of blood, but it absorbed into the bandage within the first 5 hours.

Tattoos should be washed lightly with Ivory soap about 4 or 5 hours after they’ve been completed, and then be moisturized with a hypoallergenic lotion 4 or 5 times a day.

What you see on Mr. OMSH’s arm is Cetaphil.

Angella–tats are easy compared to piercings…I think. I don’t think I could get my nose pierced. I guess I’m strange like that…

  11. chocolatechic

Way cool. I’d like to get another one, but I saw how painful the shoulder blade tat was for Superman, I won’t get one there.

    Thinking….thinking….

  12. mamalang

I love my tat, and occassionally think about another one. When I was getting mine, there was a girl getting her belly button pierced. She asked which hurt more. The guys told her neither hurt more, it was just a different pain.

    Cool tat :)

chocolatechic - Well, I had one on my shoulder blade - and it was considerably more “ouch” than the one on my bum.

mamalang - I beg to differ - I mean yea, they hurt different … but it is much easier to handle if it is further away from bone.

Coming form the tattooed freak here. I love your tat! I have 6 and they all mean something very special to me. I am getting a 7th this fall but is going with another. I used to have 10 piercings and they are way more painful.
SSS bath oil will help your tats after you have been in the sun all day, and living on the surface of the sun you might need it.

  15. Starwoodgal (aka Jamie)

I hope it wasn’t painful. My son turns 20 today and said he wants a tat. I said “How about an iPod instead”. LOL!!!

  16. Aileen

I wonder why no one ever gets a tattoo of like…the gerber baby logo.

Very cool tattoo though. Now when someone asks him what he does for a living, he doesn’t even need words! He can just lift his sleeve and show them!

    P.S. Happy birthday!

  17. RebelRescuer

Oh that’s awesome! I think yours is one of the coolest flower tats I’ve seen. So clear and bright!

I have one, and have been wanting another for the past five years. I think its time…

  18. Elda

Very Cool. DH was a Combat Medic up until a year ago… Brings back memories.

  19. MidlifeSlices™

I’m old and I STILL want a tat. At least one I can hide. I’ll know it’s there and fine it hard to suppress the smile for know I’ve got it and my kids don’t know. :) Oh…and when you went to Norman, OK you drove right past my house and you never even waved. What’s up with that?? ;)

  20. Stefani

    You rock Mr OMSH!
    Here’s Mr Blue Yonder’s tat: http://www.flickr.com/photos/blueyonder/495449900/in/set-72157600208617510/

I tell everyone that it symbolizes the total hotness of his wife. The truth though, is that he had a horrible green, self-made tat there that said, “Metallica”, for real, and this is what he and the tattoo artist came up with to cover it.

I like the “hot wife” story better :-)

  21. MidlifeSlices™

Good grief!! I really can spell and talk civilized but I wrote that comment without my glasses. NOW that I DO have my glasses on, I see it looks like I have a fifth grade education and maybe I’ve had a little too much to drink. :) May I borrow a lime from your tree, please??

  22. heather

MidlifeSlices - No worries - I know that you are more educamated than that.

    heh heh

I tried to wave, but I was too busy sitting on my hands and trying very hard not to direct Mr. OMSH in traffic.

I’m SOOOOO not a good passenger.

  23. d-ann

Cool! I really wanted to get a tat. But I chickened out. Plus the parents aren’t hot on idea.

  24. Assertagirl

That is seriously one bitchin’ tattoo. I’ve been thinking lately that I might like a second one, but I’m not 100% sure.
