Have you heard of the Reverse Graffiti Project sponsored by Green Works? Seriously, I think I'm gonna hire this guy to come do this in my shower.
»» commentsIt is 1:30 and I should be snoozin' in bed next to Mr. OMSH, but instead I'm looking for a dollar to try the shirt fold from this Money Origami site.

Though it may appear as though my children are pretty well behaved all the time, believe me, they are very much NORMAL children. In fact, there has been a bit of feuding as of late that neither Mr. OMSH nor I could really pin down. It started as a small flame between Emelie and Meredith - and within a few months it became a raging fire - with Kenny coming on as a little spark that bounced back and forth to discourage any thoughts of blaze control.
I kid you not, at one point my girls were growling at each other and I didn’t dare go to sleep before both were snoring happily in their beds for fear they’d shave the others’ head or write “POO POO HEAD” with a black permanent Sharpie across the other’s forehead while they slept.
And so, in a desperate attempt to soothe the savage beasts that raged within them, we agreed to a separation. Meredith quickly moved out of her beloved pink and orange room into her brother’s room. The bunks were broken down and switched over. We’re still working on the details, but the day? IT WAS FABULOUS.
Delight was the tone of the day. Of course, I’m not so idiotic as to believe that something isn’t festering deep within their bodies - something that will explode from their mouths or eyes at any moment. Something that will make me wonder how I got this job of parenting and perhaps maybe I should have taken a course or two before deciding I should jump in the sack with my husband and make more.
But until that something appears, I’m reveling in the now - and the now looks and sounds pretty good.
Emelie couldn’t agree more.
Right Emelie?
Emelie?
Well, we’ll ask her later.
I’m glad it’s going well so far! I’ll keep all the kiddos in my prayers–and you and Mr. OMSH too. :-)
What??? One of those things no one (adult like) will ever figure out before those two … Mer and Em. Bet it gets resolved before the sun goes down tomorrow. Bet.
Oh man. I have a couple years before sister feuding starts … but I guess it will not be boring!!
I once tried to move into the linen closet under the stairs to get AWAY from my little sister. Spent all day on it. My mattress was 1″ too wide, and Daddy nixed the plot. Back in with my sister I went.
But we swapped room sides while we were at it, and that made all the difference. She took the east side, I took the west. I suppose I just needed to be a bit further west, longitudinally.
These things are important when you’re a young woman, after all.
bethany actually - We’ll take every prayer you got!
Daddy - Oh, believe it. They have been a bit at odds for a few months now.
Mrs. Wilson - GET READY … boring is certainly not a descriptive we use often!
Liz C. - THAT is a riot! Bwahahaha!
I shared a room with my smelly little brother for 15 years. 15 long, irritating years. I would have gladly moved into the kitchen back then if my parents presented that option!!
My girls shared a room by choice for a few years, then necessity a few years later, and then finally got their own rooms. When we decided to buy, a bedroom for each was my number one requirement. But every weekend, they all have sleepovers in each others rooms. LOL
Grew up in a 1200 sq ft home.
My bro & sister shared a room.
what great parents you are … flexibility is certainly the name of the game, isn’t it!
I’m glad you had some delight today! I revel in every sweet moment between my children because they are so very normal… what did I discover today? That having no voice, a pounding headache and generally feeling like poo poo does not mix so well with a houseful of boys and a husband who is away (visiting his very very sick mother.)
I remember making several room changes as children. We mixed it up every couple of years it seems.
How sweet that they are getting along with such a simple change!
[...] And finally, an update on the room switch. [...]
Well I remember when I was a kid…something about walking up hill both ways to school in that monstrous Texas snow…oh, wait different story.
Well I remember when I was a kid, I shared a room with two brothers. Was I glad when they moved out and I got my very OWN room…!
I remember when I was a kid and had an entire bedroom and bathroom to myself ALWAYS and FOREVER, AMEN.
