i am a wife, mother, writer and web designer. balance is the challenge
i rise to everyday.
My mother-in-law sent this to Jeff and Kenny, but I've already played it 3 times with a high sherry count and I can't stop laughing. Oh my, people...don't drink and hunt; that's all I gotta say.

In February, the Gronbergs traveled 1657 miles just to get online with me. Our family truly enjoyed their visit; Bethany and I never had that uncomfortable ‘first-time’ moment (we’ll not discuss the 100 gajillion times I checked my nose and teeth for superfluous green things before they arrived), and the guys hit it off like old pals. Even my parents enjoyed meeting them, and they were graced by my Mother’s cooking - which is nothing shy of a heavenly experience. All in all, it was peachy to have Actually in OMSHville.
Later on, we got to meet up with them again in a Starbucks in Dallas; it was like two ships meeting in the night (except no ships were involved and it was morning). We were en route to Oklahoma (the halfway point to Missouri where we were getting our kids back from Gram and Poppy) - and they were moving to their new home in San Diego, CA. I daresay we had the shorter trip.
And now? The Gronbergs are back, well at least 2/3 of them are here. Annalie took all of 2 seconds to get used to my not-so-shy bunch, which is good since my kids MET THEIR CAR as they pulled up the driveway; Meredith had Annalie unbuckled from her carseat almost as fast as Bethany could get out of the car. They’ve been playing ever since.
We have plans. BIG PLANS. Okay, not so big plans, but I live in a po-dunk town and ANY plans are BIG plans for me.
In the meantime, I need to pay tribute to Troy.
Upon his last visit, he took to the trampoline and Super Troy was born. I have to admit, the man can bounce with finesse.
Even more incredible? Pee-shaw about leaping over tall buildings…
Super Troy is able to balance precariously on fences…
Uh huh, try that at home.
Or don’t.

Awww. I want them to come back to Portland! Please give them hugs for me, and ask Annalie how Pretty Pinky Snakey is.
Those photos are just as hilarious now as they were in February.
How fun! Have a great visit together. Can’t wait to see more pictures and hear more tales. My hubby and I still use the “I’m totally blogging, what are you doing?” line from your Flickr photoset from your 1st meeting. LOL
Also, “except no ships were involved and it was morning” made me laugh out loud. As you know, because I told you across the table. Ha!
so cute! Enjoy your visit!
How fun! Have a great visit!
Wow, how freaky is that!? Great capture!
What happened to my neck? It’s huge!
I’m terribly sorry that I won’t be meeting up with you guys this time. I’m sure we’ll be back in the area sometime soon, but still.
[...] in OMSHville now and having a blast! Category: junk [...]
Troy Actually,
It’s not the size of your neck I’m worried about…It’s the size of your head and the effect of being dubbed ‘Super Troy.’
Thanks for sending the lady-folks our way…Kenny and I are WAY out-numbered now. Feel for me brother; feel my pain. All we’re doing is sitting around eating ice cream, sharing our feelings, and watching Steel Magnolias over and over and over…
Calgon…TAKE ME AWAY!!!
they sound like delightful people :)
i think he should have a towel cape though, shouldn’t he? i mean, jumping on a trampoline is one thing, but having a super (absorbant) duper cape makes the experience and the photo so much more…something.
YAY!! I’m so glad you two have totally hit it off. It doesn’t always happen with internet friends, but it’s so great to hear about two that did.
Have a great visit!!! ;)
I can’t tell you how long I had to balance on that fence until Heather got the picture lined up just right to make it look like I was jumping on the trampoline. My feet were very sore after that - they still hurt sometimes when it is cold.
Yay!
You’re so lucky to have Bethany visiting!!
I hope you all have a blast together! Can’t wait to read about your adventures.
OMSH… be sure to let her do all the cooking and baking while she’s there. Tell her it was all my idea. ;-)
Aileen, I have not baked or cooked a thing. I had plans to bake, but we needed to go to Wal-Mart for ingredients and we ended up not going because Annalie has a cold and wasn’t feeling well. :-( Does that get me off the hook? We still might try to bake tonight, though!
